Preston Castle                                                                 Ione, California

The Preston Castle School of Industry officially opened on July 1, 1894 and remained open until 1960 when the newer buildings were completed. The older buildings remained empty until 2001 when the Preston Castle Foundation received a 50 year lease to the property. Preston Castle has also been named a California State Historical Landmark and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2014, The Preston Castle Foundation received ownership of the Castle and surrounding properties.
