La Carafe Bar                                                                        Houston, Texas

Located in the heart of downtown Houston, the building was built by Nathaniel Kellum in 1847, and is on the National Register for Historic Places. It is believed to be the oldest bar in Houston and definitely the oldest structure in the downtown area. Many reports of paranormal activity linger to this day - bottles and glassware coming off the shelves. The antique cash register opening and closing on its own. The two spirits believed to haunt the building are a women in white who is seen at the top of the stairs. It's rumored she likes her quiet times in her area and tries to disuade people (especially other women) from heading up there. The second spirit believed to occupy La Carafe Bar is Carl, one of the past bartenders. People have seen him from the second story window and his distinctive deep voice has been heard on occasion.
